Digimon Season 1-5

Calumon - In Training

Picture
Calumon is a unique digimon who does not Digivolve, and cannot be Digi-Modified. However, he seemed to use a "Crystal Matrix" when Growlmon first became WarGrowlmon, suggesting that Calumon powers Digivolutions. Another instance of this ability is when he was very excited in the Digital World. This created a trail of shining light that digivolved some Woodmon into Cherrymon. In the episode Janyu's Ark Calumon is shown he is the light of digivolution, knowing that he sent out a wave of digivolution and so every digimon digivolved to mega level.

In the series Digimon Tamers, the Digimon Sovereigns reveal that Calumon originated as the element of Digivolution - the realized version of the "Digi-Entelechies". In order to hide this power from the evil D-Reaper, they turned the power into the form of a Digimon. In the end of the series, the Sovereigns restore this power to the Digital World, but allow Calumon to continue to live as an ordinary Digimon. Calumon plays a pivotol role in the last few episodes of the series detecting Jeri's presence and launching a rescue mission for her with Impmon for back-up. Thanks to Beelzemon Blast Mode (Impmon digivolved to fight off some D-Reaper Agents) he gets into the Kernel Sphere where Jeri is and does his best to snap her out of her depression. He ultimatly succedes getting her to fight back against the D-Reaper and to realize that there is something worth living for. After she cracks the Kernel Sphere with her D-Ark, freeing them but letting the Chaos Mass in, he somehow protects them with a forcefield and gets them outside the Sphere. The two are eventually resuced by Takato with help from Guilmon. He is forced to return to the Digital World with the other Digimon at the end and says his goodbyes to a greatful Jeri.

Calumon appears in Battle of Adventurers and Runaway Locomon, but does not play a major role in either of them. He's there for the final battle in Battle of Adventurers and somewhat saves the day by causing Growlmon, Gargomon and Kyubimon to digivolve to WarGrowlmon, Raipidmon and Taomon because he got scared of Gulfmon which allowed them to finally destroy him with their Trinity Burst attack. In Runaway Locomon he serves food at Rika's party flying around carrying a tiny dish with food to the others.
Attack
Shining Digivolution: A non-offensive technique that causes other Digimon to Digivolve.

Mitsuo Yamaki - (Hypnos Leader)

Picture
Mitsuo figures within the earlier part of the series as a troubled villainous vigilante who is defeated in his plans by the very forces and tools which he used in his mission to rid the human world of the Digimon, and then becomes a valuable ally of the Tamers in their efforts to save both the Digital World and the Human World from the destruction committed by the D-Reaper. While his sinister, black-suited exterior seems to present Mitsuo as little more than a basic G-man, those shades hide the mind of an electronics genius. Yamaki was responsible for designing the Hypnos system, which keeps a constant watch over the Earth’s electronic communications network, secretly monitoring and recording information and acts as section chief to the organisation named for his creation. Yamaki apparently also worked on other government projects before. When Hypnos became aware of Digimon existing autonomously within the network, protocols were immediately established to deal with these Wild Ones, as they were code-named, as they began to Bio-Emerge into the Real World. Yamaki, a stiff man of few outward emotions, grew to hate the creatures, viewing them embodiments of chaos and disorder, a danger to humanity, and mere faulty programs. Among Yamaki’s traits is his compulsion to flick open and close the silver Zippo lighter he always carries, it’s generally believed he’s attempting to quit smoking, and flicking the lighter is a possibly-unconscious nervous action caused by wanting a cigarette (due to stress, most of the time). He is involved in a relationship with Hypnos chief systems operator, Riley OotoriLater on in the series, he grow to accept there are Digimon that weren't a threat, and is able maintain faith in the Tamers even when things got tough. At nearly all times, Yamaki maintained a very calm persona, rarely displaying any emotion.

Riley Ootori - (Hypnos Chief Operator)

Picture
Riley Ootori is an employee of Hypnos. She is also the love interest of her manager, Mitsuo Yamaki, who she assists throughout the series, and to whom she also serves as an emotional counterweight to his obsessive, persistent demeanor. Riley and Tally were perpetually on-hand to announce the frequent Bio-Emergence of various Wild Ones into the real world, including Guilmon, Goblinmon, and Gorillamon. At one point, Riley remarked on how energy fluctuations indicated that they would soon be seeing a level of Bio-Emergence unlike anything they had seen before. Later in that same day, when an energy field was detected in the tunnel beneath the park, Riley questioned Yamaki’s use of the Yuggoth program, suggesting they study it, and noting that unapproved programs were forbidden, but was forced by Yamaki to activate the Yuggoth, which deleted the area. When a Devidramon Bio-Emerged and made its arrival fairly public, Yamaki charged Riley with inventing a cover story. Later, she announced the Bio-Emergence of IceDevimon, and tried to once again dissuade Yamaki from using the Yuggoth on Musyamon, to no avail, ultimately only temporarily delaying his materialisation. Riley reported the destruction of the Yuggoth deployment when Musyamon returned, then identified his Bio-Emergence point, which Yamaki headed for.

When Riley and Tally picked up an erratic signal that was apparently right under them, Tally spotted Calumon running around the room, and tried to convince Riley of what she had seen, but Riley was having none of it. Later, she assured Tally that whatever the Juggernaut was, it was bad news for someone. When the Juggernaut was then activated, Riley fought through the sound of screaming Digimon while Tally cried out for it to stop. Riley then relayed to Yamaki that the first Deva, Mihiramon, had breached the vortex and was about to enter the real world through the Juggernaut. Mihiramon was subsequently defeated by the Tamers, but his fellow Devas were able to repeatedly use the Juggernaut as a gateway to Earth. Riley detected the Bio-Emergence of Sinduramon, but elected not to alert Yamaki due to his small size. When Sinduramon absorbed the city’s electricity, Riley engaged Hypnos’s back-up power, then called Yamaki in as Sinduramon began to grow. Riley announced the emergence of Vajramon and Pajiramon, after a Yuggoth deployment failed to stop them, then, when the Tamers destroyed them, tracked Vajramon’s signal as he reconstituted himself.A little later, Riley was visiting a gym, and was the subject of a bit of gossip from fellow members. The dub has her turning down a date via phone on the pretense that she has to work, then suggesting the following night – but she’s dating Yamaki, so this doesn’t make sense. We don’t actually know she’s his lover at this point, though, so therein lies the reason for the flub. She proceeded to visit the Matsuki bakery while thinking about the fact that only the Tamers were ever successful in fighting Wild Ones, idly noting Takato’s goggles, then went into work, where a friendly conversation with Tally was interrupted by the re-emergence of Vajramon. During the Tamers’ battle with him, Riley analysed the energy increase when Kyubimon Digivolved into Taomon.

When Indramon and Makuramon Bio-Emerged, Riley launched a surveillance virus to tap the communications between the Devas. The Juggernaut was reactivated to deal with Indramon, but it crashed before reaching full power – Indramon departed, and Riley believed he had self-destructed. When Indramon reappeared the following day, Riley recognised his signal. When Vikaralamon was about to Bio-Emerge, the sheer size of his data almost caused Hypnos to crash. In the ensuing battle between him and the Tamers, the Juggernaut was reactivated and threatened to delete all the Digimon, until Makuramon instigated an explosion that crashed the system and destroyed a substantial portion of the towers. Yamaki refused to leave, and, after a moment of silence between the two of them, instructed Riley to get to safety. The Tamers managed to destroy Vikaralamon, but Hypnos was shut down and Yamaki, Riley and Tally lost their jobs. As a depressed Yamaki reflected on the situation, Riley made him realise that there had to be something he could do – prompting him to change sides, and help the Tamers out by giving them a comm device before they headed into the Digital World. It was at this point, when we see Riley in casual dress in Yamaki's apartment, that it became evident that Riley and Yamaki are in a relationship (although it is at no point ever stated in dialogue that they are). Chiaki Konaka notes that he thought it had been implied beforehand, but that even the Japanese staff were surprised by this revelation.

Some time later, as Riley was preparing breakfast, Yamaki received an e-mail from the kids – but then, the Juggernaut was reactivated by the head of national security, and, unstable, began to run out of control. The Chief Cabinet Secretary called Yamaki and Riley in, who were successfully able to shut the system down, and were reinstated. As the Monster Makers worked on creating an ark to bring the Tamers home, Riley contacted all the kids’ parents to let them know they were returning, then asked Janyu Wong about the program used to create the ark. An attack by the D-Reaper on the Hypnos processor almost scuppered the plan, but the Monster Makers were able to corral processing power from computers all across the world, much to Riley’s amazement. The ark Bio-Emerged in Shinjuku Park, and Riley was among the team who were there to see it, regretfully having to report that Jeri’s parents had not come to meet her. When the D-Reaper followed the Tamers back into the real world, Riley and the other Hypnos and Monster Maker members had to evacuate the Hypnos towers and operate out of a van before moving into a temporary headquarters. Riley, Yamaki and Tally went to meet the Tamers at the Matsuki bakery, where Takato recognised Riley as a regular customer. Riley, Yamaki and Tally then watched as the Tamers’ Digimon battled with a Pendulum Feet, one of the D-Reaper’s Agents.

Riley later consoled Yamaki, realising that he blamed himself for the situation, and telling him that he was just the first person who was trying to control something uncontrollable. Then, she and Tally, along with Shibumi, co-ordinated the Bio-Emergence of Grani. Riley and Daisy worked together to perform a systems check on Grani, and discovered recorded images from the Digital World, which was now in ruins. As the Digimon engaged the D-Reaper’s Agents again, Riley was successfully able to hack into the D-Reaper’s signal, allowing the adults to see what the D-Reaper saw, including what lay beneath layers of data, revealing to the parents that their children had merged with their Digimon. When the D-Reaper evolved to the Mother D-Reaper, everyone was forced to retreat to Tsukuba, where Riley re-established contact with Johnny Beckenstein, who relayed important information about the D-Reaper’s structure to the team. With that information, the Monster Makers formulated Operation: Doodlebug to disable and devolve the D-Reaper. Riley saw to the activation of the Juggernaut within MegaGargomon, which pulled the D-Reaper through the vortex, back into the Digital World, where it was reverted into it’s harmless original state. As Takato summarised the months that followed the victory, Riley was seen with Yamaki in the Matsuki bakery. Later, when Locomon appeared in Tokyo, Riley and Tally monitored the situation from the restored Hypnos headquarters, and detected the Bio-Emergence of the Parasimon swarm and Justimon.

Tally Onodera - (Hypnos Operator)

Picture
Tally Onodera is one of the Hypnos system operators, and friends with her fellow employee, Riley. Generally quite quiet, but nonetheless highly intelligent and technologically proficient, and an important part of the Hypnos machine, Tally isn’t as committed to Yamaki’s ideals as Riley is. Tally and Riley were perpetually on-hand to announce and analyse the numerous Bio-Emergences that occurred in the early days of the Tamers’ adventures, including Guilmon, Goblinmon and Gorillamon. At one point, she and Riley talked about the mass amount of emergence that was occurring, and Riley theorised they’d soon see an unheard of level. Several Bio-Emergences later, Yamaki planned to put his Juggernaut into action. Just prior to that, Tally and Riley picked up an erratic signal which seemed to be right under them, and Tally saw Calumon running around the room, immediately smitten by his cuteness. She tried to convince Riley of what she had seen, but Riley didn’t believe her. Later, as Tally wondered what the Juggernaut was, Riley assured it that whatever it was, it meant bad news. When the Juggernaut was activated, Tally couldn’t take the sound of screaming Digimon, begging for it to stop. Subsequently, the first Deva, Mihiramon, emerged through the vortex, and battled the Tamers, until WarGrowlmon defeated him.

When Tally and Riley detected the emergence of Sinduramon, they decided not to bother Yamaki, given the creature’s small size, but later had to call him in when it absorbed the city’s electricity. During a brief break from their work, Riley and Tally were able to squeeze in some friendly conversation before the reappearance of Vajramon broke it up. When Vikaralamon Bio-Emerged, the sheer size of his data almost caused Hypnos to crash, but Tally was able to shut down some non-essential programs to get the situation under control, and pre-emptively contacted the Chief Cabinet Secretary for Yamaki. In the ensuing battle between Vikaralamon and the Tamers, the Juggernaut was reactivated, but an explosion instigated by Makuramon shut it down and destroyed a substantial portion of the towers. Commenting that she knew something like this was going to happen, Tally quickly made her escape with much of the rest of the staff.

Consequently, Hypnos was shut down, and Yamaki, Riley and Tally were fired, and Yamaki saw the light, offering his aid to the Tamers before they departed for the Digital World by giving them a comm device. He and Riley were later reinstated when the unstable Juggernaut was reactivated by the head of national security, and they were able to get it under control. Tally was also reinstated, and was then seen with Riley, monitoring the disturbances the appearance of Megidramon created, quite distressed by the scale involved. Later, Tally was on hand to help corral the processing power of computers all over the planet when the Monster Makers required it to pilot the ark they had created to bring the Tamers back to Earth. When the D-Reaper followed the Tamers back to the real world, Tally and the other Hypnos and Monster Maker members had to evacuate the Hypnos towers and operate out of a van before moving into a temporary headquarters. Tally, Riley and Yamaki went to meet the Tamers at the Matsuki bakery, then watched as the Tamers’ Digimon battled with a Pendulum Feet, one of the D-Reaper’s Agents.

After a large battle with the D-Reaper’s Agents, Tally and Janyu Wong showed Kazu and Kenta the D-Reaper’s original programming. Shortly thereafter, she, Riley and Shibumi, co-ordinated the Bio-Emergence of Grani. Later, Tally grimly reported on the D-Reaper’s spread throughout the world, and was able to open a satellite connection that allowed Yamaki to directly communicate with Takato while he and Guilmon were in battle as Gallantmon. The outcome of that battle, however, saw the D-Reaper evolve into the Mother D-Reaper, forcing the entire crew to retreat to Tsukuba, where they formulated their final plan of attack. A week later, as the Tamers went into battle with the D-Reaper zone itself, Tally and Riley helped Yamaki and the Monster Makers coordinate Operation: Doodlebug, which devolved the D-Reaper into it’s original, harmless state. Months later, when Locomon appeared in Tokyo, Tally and Riley helped monitor the situation from the rebuilt Hypnos headquarters.

Alice McCoy

Picture
Alice McCoy is an animated fictional character who first appears in episode 44 of Digimon Tamers. She is 11 years old with blond hair, and blue eyes who dresses in the gothic lolita fashion style. Alice is the granddaughter of Professor Rob McCoy, who keeps a photograph of her. She was sent to the Tamers by the Digimon Sovereigns to give them the ability to Biomerge in the real world, via the power of her partner, Dobermon (who sacrificed his life to do this). After the episode The D-Reaper's Disguise, Alice is not seen again.

Dobermon - Champion Level

Picture
Dobermon was a messenger of the Digimon Sovereigns, who was sent to the Real World where he met Alice McCoy, the gothic-dressed granddaughter of Dr. Rob "Dolphin" McCoy. However while they were searching for the Tamers, they were attacked by some Bubbles of the D-Reaper but the Tamers saved them. Dobermon then delivered the message which was that the Tamers could now Bio-Merge in the Real World as he leapt and split into rays of digital light that hit Takato MatsukiRika Nonakaand Henry Wong, which allowed them and GuilmonRenamon and Terriermon to Bio-Merge to GallantmonSakuyamon and MegaGargomon. Alice felt sad about Dobermon sacrificing himself but a few data pieces of him appeared again and formed his head, which licked Alice's cheek. Later on, his voice was heard again as he and Alice left the scene.

Digimon Sovereigns

The Sovereigns have reigned over the Digital World and protected it since the age of myth, and they have become legendary beings which are extremely difficult to track down. They are powerful to the point that ordinary Mega Digimon are unable to compete with them, so they have become the highest authorities of the Digital World, said to in fact be gods due to their extreme power. Unlike normal Digimon which only have one DigiCore per body, each of the Sovereigns has twelve DigiCores which float outside their body and channel their immortality and tremendous power. Except for Fanglongmon, each of the Sovereigns also has four shining eyes. The four Sovereigns played an important role in Digimon Tamers. In this series, the most prominent of the four is Zhuqiaomon. The Digimon Sovereigns live on the 6th, highest plain of the Digital World, along with the Catalyst, or Shining Digivolution. They were some of the first Digimon to reach their highest form, and in an attempt to distance themselves from humans, they ironically took the appearance of the humans' gods.

When the D-Reaper began to re-emerge, the four Sovereigns could not agree on a strategy. Zhuqiaomon believed that they should use the Shining Digivolution to allow Digimon to digivolve and fight back, while Azulongmon believed that it was the Digimon's ability to grow in strength that had brought the D-Reaper out in the first place. He had the DigiGnomes transform the Shining Digivolution into Calumon. With the loss of the power to Digivolve, Zhuqiaomon, thinking that the Digimon could instead grow stronger by defeating humanity, sent his Devas into the Real World. Soon, his servant, Makuramon, discovered Calumon and attempted to return him to Zhuqiaomon, causing the Tamers to follow him in an attempt to rescue their friend. Makuramon, however, lost Calumon and the Tamers found him, and Caturamon recaptured him.

After being separated, and a long, difficult trek across the Digital World, The Tamers arrived at Zhuqiaomon's domain. As they battled him, Azulongmon made his appearance. Meanwhile, Ryo Akiyama encountered Ebonwumon and Baihumon in the latter's domain, and soon, they all gathered in Zhuqiaomon's area, just as the D-Reaper was beginning to make its appearance. Here, a compromise was made, and the Sovereigns implored Calumon to release the power so that Digimon could digivolve and fight back. Thus, it was Zhuqiaomon's plan that prevailed in the end, even though that does not excuse his methods in attacking the Tamers. The Sovereigns would lead their new army of Mega Digimon (made up of MetalSeadramonMachinedramon, three Diaboromon, a Digimon that might be PukumonGryphonmonHououmonBoltmonPlesiomonGranKuwagamonJijimon, and Babamon) to fight the D-Reaper in the Digital World. Later, they would travel to the Real World, and help the Tamers by removing the Cable Reaper from the battle.

Ebonwumon - Mega Level

Picture
Ryo Akiyama and Cyberdramon encountered Ebonwumon in Baihumon's territory, which he guarded while Baihumon was fighting the D-Reaper, Baihumon however then reappeared wounded. Later on, Baihumon and Ebonwumon met with Azulongmon and Zhuqiaomon on how to handle the D-Reaper situation and helped Calumon release the Shining Digivolution which Digivolved every Digimon everywhere to their Mega forms to help the Sovereign. In the final battle against the D-Reaper, Ebonwumon assisted Azulongmon, Baihumon and Zhuqiaomon into dragging the Cable Reaper back into the Digital World during Operation: Doodlebug, thus saving the Tamers from having to defeat it all over again.
Attack
Mugen: Displays an illusion which generates a dark mist around the opponent, destroying their spirit.

Zhuqiaomon - Mega Level

Picture
Zhuqiaomon sent his servants, the Devas, to find and capture CalumonMakuramon captured him and attempted but failed to bring him to Zhuqiaomon. He was also behind Impmon's Digivolution to BeelzemonCaturamon later brought Calumon to Zhuqiaomon and he placed Calumon in a pit. When Antylamon became Suzie's partner, Zhuqiaomon's power De-Digivolved Antylamon to Lopmon. During the battle between Beelzemon and Gallantmon, he sent Caturamon to destroy Lopmon. Caturamon was destroyed by Gallantmon and his data was absorbed by Beelzemon. When the Tamers finally confronted Zhuqiaomon, he did a lot of damage to Rapidmon before Henry and Terriermon Bio-Merged to MegaGargomon and defeated him. Zhuqiaomon, who the Tamers thought was destroyed, emerged and then battled Gallantmon until the Eastern Guardian Azulongmon appeared and stopped the battle. During Azulongmon's story, Zhuqiaomon revealed the catalyst where Calumon's power came from. He took the Tamers to the pit where Calumon was and Calumon was rescued. Baihumon and Ebonwumon met with them to talk about the D-Reaper problem and Zhuqiaomon helped to release Calumon's Shining Digivolution power that Digivolved every Digimon to its Mega Form. When the Tamers started to fight the D-Reaper in the Real World, Zhuqiaomon sent a Dobermon with a message: the receiving of the ability to Bio-Merge in the Real World. In the final battle against the D-Reaper, Zhuqiaomon assisted Azulongmon, Baihumon, and Ebonwumon into dragging the Cable Reaper back into the Digital World during Operation: Doodlebug, thus saving the Tamers. Unlike most other Digimon antagonists, Zhuqiaomon did not attack the humans because of evil intentions, but because he believed them to be a threat to the Digital World for such reasons as their "abuse" of the Catalyst (Calumon). He was actually willing to work with the Tamers (somewhat begrudgingly) when he saw the power of humans and Digimon working together, and he was even willing to accept that their Digimon chose to stay with them.
Attack
Blazing Helix: Releases a swirl of flames comparable to the prominences which jet out during a solar eruption.

Azulongmon - Mega Level

Picture
Azulongmon first appeared when Zhuqiaomon attacked the Tamers. He saved the humans and their partner Digimon and then shortly fought against Zhuqiaomon. He finally convinced Zhuqiaomon to not attack the Tamers so that they could focus on the true enemy, the D-Reaper. He told the Tamers the history of the Digital World and each of its layers. He and Zhuqiaomon later met with Baihumon and Ebonwumon to discuss the D-Reaper situation and helped to release Calumon's Shining Digivolution power which Digivolved every Digimon to their Mega forms. In the final battle against the D-Reaper, Azulongmon assisted Zhuqiaomon, Ebonwumon, and Baihumon into dragging the D-Reaper back into the Digital World during Operation: Doodlebug, thus saving the Tamers. Azulongmon has a noticeably different personality in Digimon Tamers then in Digimon Adventure 02. In Adventure 02 he's depicted as extremely witty, while Tamers he's depicted as serious and no-nonsense.
Attack
Aurora Force: Lets intense thunder fall from the sky, with divine fury.

Baihumon - Mega Level

Picture
Baihumon lived in the White Tower at the highest plain in the Digital World. When Ryo Akiyama and Cyberdramon arrived in his part of the domain, they found the Northern Hemisphere guardian Ebonwumon watching over his place as he fought the D-Reaper. Shortly after, Baihumon appeared and collapsed from exhaustion. Later on, Baihumon and Ebonwumon met with Azulongmon and Zhuqiaomon on how to handle the D-Reaper situation and helped Calumon release the Shining Digivolution which Digivolved every Digimon everywhere to their Mega forms to help the Sovereign. In the final battle against the D-Reaper, Baihumon assisted Azulongmon, Ebonwumon, and Zhuqiaomon into dragging the Cable Reaper back into the Digital World during Operation: Doodlebug, thus saving the Tamers.
Attack
Kongou: Emits a wave from its mouth which converts the opponent completely into metal, making them unable to move while their body rusts, and unable to die until they have completely rusted away.

Fanglongmon - Mega Level

Picture
Fanglongmon is a God Beast Digimon, the leader of the four Digimon SovereignsAzulongmonBaihumonZhuqiaomon and Ebonwumon. He protects the center of the Digital World. He is known in Japan as Huanglongmon, derived from Huang Long, the Yellow Dragon of the Center in Chinese mythology.  Fanglongmon is said to have created the four Sovereigns, and is huge, even by Sovereign standards. He is golden colored and has eight eyes, with digi-cores lining his back.
